Bismillah … How wondrous this life is. Its mystery is beyond our comprehension. I have spent a long time in seclusion, though I have lived among people. The way of a saint is one of seclusion, after all … I have come to the conclusion that the best thing to do, is to retire altogether. This allows for the greatest conservation of energy, which in turn can lead to a much higher quality of life.
In order to maintain some kind of an output, one has to have relevance … it is not enough to simply produce something that everyone else is doing. One must be extraordinary. It has been said that extra-ordinary people are what make life worth living … a “pursuit of excellence,” as one author has stated. Taking the discussion even further, there was a Muslim saint long ago who said that the reason God created human beings, is so that they could become extraordinary. The more that one draws nearer to the Lord, the greater can become their expression of some of the Divine qualities.

What is one to do, if he has spent his entire life in sin? Is that maybe a relative question? I am only one person, after all … and my assessment of my own past and history is sure to be somewhat subjective. In the religious background that I have chosen to adopt, there are some truly bewildering stories of people who have committed the most horrible atrocities, yet were forgiven by the Lord. When I think about some of these examples, it makes me think of the idea that “repentance” is really just sort of a … “blip” of a feeling. There is this idea that, in a single moment, all can be forgiven.
Of course, practically speaking, one must still undergo a tremendous change of behavior. This is because, while in some sense of the spirit a person may be “forgiven” for something that they have done — think: “Murder; rape; selling drugs” — we are still obligated by the Lord to change our ways, while we are alive on this earth plane. There is this adage, which we encounter amongst people from time to time: “Don’t say ‘sorry’ — just don’t do it again.” Of course, there are many sins in the sight of the Lord which do not fit into the categories mentioned above. And these have to do with the psychological harm that so many of us can cause to others, year after year; one generation after another.

What about me? What are some of the things that I have been up to? When one retreats into a scholarly way of life, there are many trials and tribulations that must be passed through. A lot of them are psychological. It has been said that those who are more spiritually inclined can become “extra sensitive” to a lot of the pain and suffering that goes on around us … So, it is not simply a matter of being able to “live,” like the average person does. Of course, even the so-called average person is finding themselves to be struggling significantly right now. And the key to understanding all that goes on around us, is to begin with a purification of the spirit.
Shall I commence with another phase of writing? Well, there are many matters that have to be tended to. It takes a lot of psychological infrastructure to make something like this happen … But, one can also bounce around, from moment to moment. The internet itself is a highly unstable thing … and I prefer to keep something published on it for only a brief period of time. Although I have collected all of my past writings, into a physical format … perhaps, one day, this will be an outcome from what some people originally see here.
